This idol is in seating position with left leg folded down.The legend is that Shri.Ganesha went to one sugarcane trader in the guise of a poor boy.The trader refused to give him any sugarcane.Then Ganesha wanted to teach him a lesson but the trader apologised for his mistake and consecrated Shri. Ganesha shrine and worshipped the deity every year with 1000 sugarcanes (Kurumbyiran).Hence the name goes accordingly.
