Due to this,the power of Indra got disintigrated in to three parts and created three demons.Mahapap,Sankat and Shatru'.The demons worshipped Lord Shiva and in blessings got the possesion of Heaven,Earth and Patal(below the earth) respectively.

After getting the power the demons were out of control and started troubling the people.The people under the guidence of Sage Mudgal,decided to pray Lord Ganesha to get relief from the demons.

Sage mudgal requested Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati to get transformed  in to a 'Shami' tree and called all the people to pray to Ganesha by seating below the tree.After a long chant of mantras and prayers Lord Ganesha appeared.Ganesha killed the three demons with three arrows on a bow at a time.Soon Ganesha got merged in to the 'shami' tree roots.

The relieved people lauded Ganesha by chanting slogans,'Jay Shami Vighnesh' and the shrine established there was named accordingly.
