Chintamani-Yewatmal,India

Ahilya, the wife of Sage Gautam Hrishi was very beautiful woman and Lord Indra heard the fame about her looks.Indra came in to temptation and had a plan to molest her.As the Sage Gautam went to the river Ganges for a bath,Indra did not miss the opportunity.

Indra transformed himself into Gautam Hrishi and was successful in his wicked plans. When Sage Gautam came to know about this incident,he cursed Indra that he will have cracks all over his body.He also cursed Ahilya that she will become a stone.

Repented Indra started meditation and prayed Shree Ganesha for many years. After getting the blessings of Ganesha,Sage Gautam resolved that the cracks on Indra's body will be healed and transformed in to one thousand eyes. And Ahilya will be reformed after Shree Ram touches the stone.

In the town of Kadamb,Indra erected a temple of Chintamani Ganesh.Soon the cracked skin  of Indra vanished, creating a peacock there and the thousand eyes were embeded on the feathers.Further during his fourteen years stay in jungle,Shri.Ram touched the stone and Ahilya was reformed.

This temple is thirty feet deep and there is a small tank of water where people with skin diseases take a sacred wash.
