                          Information

As per the Hindu scriptures,"Char Dham" is the collective name for the holy places of Yamunotri, Gangotri,Kedarnath and Badrinath which are the most sacred of all the pilgrimages.

 

The Char dham must be visited in right order ie beginning with Yamunotri, then Gangotri, Kedarnath and finally to Badrinath. A pilgrimage to these holy places will not only cleanse one's sins but also ensure the Moksha ie Salvation.
 

It is also beleived that the heaven and earth merge at these holy places and it is a fortune to die or take birth here.

            Main Attraction                 Travel Guide

The shrine of Yamunotri, situated at an elevation of about 3,235 m is a point of paramount religious importance for Hindus and an essential pilgrimage.

Situated in the direction opposite to Gangotri, the road bifurcates from a place called Dharasu, somewhere between Rishikesh-Uttarkashi and goes on to Yamunotri. The shrine can also be visited via Mussoorie and Barkot.

Yamunotri Temple
The main temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.This was collapsed in an earthquake,which was re-constructed.A holy dip in the hot springs,in the nearby tank,containing cooking rice is a common ritual performed by the devotees,to get rid of all the sins.Maharani Guleria of Jaipur, built the present temple, in the late nineteenth century.

Surya Kund
The water in this tank has very high temperature of 190 degree F.Devotees cook food items here, to offer to the deity.

Divya Shila
It is a huge sacred pillar of rock which is respected before entering the Yamunotri Temple.

Hanumanchatti
The confluence of Hanuman Ganga and Yamuna rivers forms the starting point for the scenic Dodi TaL Trek.

Sayanachatti
A marvellous spot along the banks of river Yamuna which guves pleasant sight,while trekking upto Yamunotri.

Chamba
This is an amazing spot,situated at an altitude of 1,675 mts.,which gives the wonderful view of the Himalayan peaks.Devotees visit this place perticularly in the Summer season.
