In 1979,some families,in
the viscinity of Wimbledon,gathered at a local hall to worship Lord Ganesha.They had a statue of Lord Ganesha.
They hired a priest to conduct the service,
and began regular worshiping of God, and got the pleasure which they had in their
native place.
Gradually more and more devotees began to attend the worship.In 1980, one of the families bought a property in Wimbledon and
donated it for Shri. Ganesha Temple.
It had its Maha Kumb-Abhishekam in September
1981, and became the first ever consecrated Hindu Temple in Europe.
